Donor Spotlight Interview with Ann Brennan

How long have you been a supporter of Kinnect?

Apparently I was one of the earliest donors. I heard Mike and Shannon speak at an Akron Foundations meeting and was so impressed with their energy. Afterwards, I met them for coffee and away we went.

What attracted you to the cause, and Kinnect in particular?

Mike and Shannon were the real attraction. I really didn’t think they could accomplish a systematic and systemic change of the system of adoption. I was wrong.

What motivates you to stay involved?

Shannon has stayed in contact with me and we meet regularly to catch up. I am still delighted to give to this agency.

In your opinion, what is the most important work that Kinnect does?

As I understand it, Kinnect has been able to change the culture of child welfare system workers. This change has been for the better because it is inclusive of the child’s relatives as well as other significant people with ties to the child.

If you would describe Kinnect in three words, what would they be?

Innovative, Energetic, Needed.
